Like the name suggests, a dental bridge is used to “bridge” the gap in your smile after losing a tooth.
It’s important to understand that your teeth are held in place by roots and surrounding teeth. This means that when you lose a tooth, you are more at risk for losing the other teeth in your smile. Getting a tooth replacement like a dental bridge protects your oral health.
Benfits Of Dental Bridges
If you have ever felt self-conscious about missing teeth, you owe it to yourself to schedule an appointment with our dentist. Many of our patients report having better confidence after getting a dental bridge for front teeth. A front teeth bridge will help you to eat and talk like you did before you lost your tooth.
The dental bridge procedure takes two visits to our office. During your first appointment, our dentist will remove enamel from the teeth on both sides of the gap. These two teeth will later be capped by dental crowns. Next, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth to send to the lab where your bridge will be made. In the meantime, your dentist will place a temporary bridge to protect your teeth. When you return, your dentist will replace the temporary bridge with the permanent one.
Bridgework is as much an art as it is an exact science!
