If our Holland dentist discovers a cavity, he may recommend a dental inlay or onlay.
Unlike fillings that are applied directly to your teeth, inlays and onlays are made in a lab before being fitted and bonded to your smile. Your cosmetic dentist may recommend a tooth inlay or onlay as an alternative to a dental filling or porcelain crown.
Inlays and onlays are great for patients who want to save as much natural tooth enamel as possible.
For the procedure, our cosmetic dentist only removes decayed tooth matter to make room for the onlay or inlay. A dental crown, on the other hand, would require your dentist to remove healthy enamel so your tooth doesn’t look bulky.
Inlays & Onlays Procedure
The entire procedure takes two visits to our office. During your first appointment, our dentist will drill out tooth decay before taking impressions of your teeth. These dental impressions will then be sent to the lab where your inlay or onlay will be made.
Keeping your teeth free from decay is our primary focus!
During your second appointment, our dentist will make sure that the color and fit is perfect before bonding the dental onlay or inlay to your tooth.
